The group arrived on Sunday morning - tired after a long overnight journey with little sleep but all looking surprisingly awake & all cheerful.
We boarded our coach & began our exploration of Greece by traveling to Nafplion, the former capital of Greece. We broke the drive halfway with a stop at the Corinth Canal, an engineering wonder when it was constructed in the 1880s, allowing ships to avoid a 200 mile journey around the Peloponnese peninsula.
Upon arrival in Nafplion we checked into our hotel, the Amphitryon, & had time to refresh before meeting for dinner, then made a short walking tour of the charming old town of Nafplion on our way to dinner.
Our restaurant this evening was at Alaloum, one of the best tavernas in Nafplion. With a wide & delicious variety of traditional Greek dishes, friendly service, local wines & even live music, it was the perfect location for our welcome dinner.

Room with a view anyone? Everyone's rooms enjoys a sea view of the Venetian 'Bourtzi' castle
We'll have to ask the hotel to move these loiterers on!
